An International Career in Rural Health,
Agriculture Research
 
Dr. Ashok Patil, the first Indian to become a President of International Association of agricultural Medicine and Rural Health (IAAMRH)
Before being elected as President, he has served the Association in various capacities.
Dr. Ashok Patil along with Magsaysay Award Winner Padmshree Dr.Rajanikant Arole founded the Indian Chapter of the Association in 1988, under the auspices of Pravara Medical Trust, Loni. (Maharashtra state, India). Under the leadership of Dr. Patil, the Indian chapter has organized an Asian Congress in "Innovative Approaches to Rural Health" in January 1993 and an "International Conference on Woman and Child - Health, Empowerment, Rights and Development, in November 1998, in Loni, which were well attended by representatives from all over the world.

Designed and implemented about 20 research, training and development projects for the last 15 years. Some of the major and recent projects include
1.
Comprehensive Rural Health Project in 100 villages in Ahmednagar district, Maharashtra, India from 1991 on wards till date. ( The Project is funded by USAID from 1991 - 1996)
2.
Mother NGO - RCH Scheme implemented in Aurangabad, Beed and Jalna districts, Maharashtra, India ( Sanctioned by Government of India under World Bank Assistance) - 1998 onwards.
3.
"AIDS and Sex Education for Adolescents and Youth of 100 villages of Ahmednagar districts, Maharashtra, India" (2000-2001) , Funded by Stina Berger Foundation, Sweden.
4.
"Efficacy of Lactobacillus Ruteri in controlling Childhood Diarrhea in rural Ahmednagar district, Maharashtra, India" (2000-2001), Funded by Biogia Ltd., Sweden.
