Dr Vikhe Patil Foundation’s Center for Management Research And Development (CMRD), organized an HR Meet on the 24th February 2007 to bring about a synergy between the industry and B-schools. The event was graced by the presence of HR heads of various companies. Mr Ashok Jagtap (Vice President and Operations head, Indus Software) increased the charisma of the meet by being the chief guest. Mr Jagtap has handled a wide variety of projects and has an experience of 25 years in the software industry. “Skills are more important than experience in today’s global world." said Mr.Ashok Jagtap Chief guest of HR Meet.
 
Prof Das (faculty CMRD) initiated the programe by announcing the theme of the HR Meet organized by CMRD. The programme was inaugurated by lightening the auspicious lamp by the hands of Mr Jagtap, Prof Alvi and Prof Das.
 
Mr Jagtap in his key note address emphasized the importance of managing diversity, training and development and skills in the global era. He also showed concern about maintaining a work-life balance. The greatest challenge for the HR professional today is the management of knowledge professionals. This he said could be possible only when organizations create a conductive culture that fosters creativity and innovations.
 
More than 60 HR professionals from Manufacturing, Service, Telecom, Automobile and IT industry participated in the meet. There were three panel discussions in the meet. The first panel discussion was on the topic “Performance Management in the global perspective” The panelists discussed about the importance of making the performance management more dynamic and continuous. They also stressed on the need of proper counseling and giving feedbacks to the employees.
 
The second panel discussion was on “Merger and Acquisitions- The people factor.” The panelist in this discussion talked about the various issues related to mergers and acquisitions, role of trade union during mergers and how gender related issues should be handled in the mergers and acquisi.
 
The third panel discussion was titled “Managing talent pool- challenges for HR professionals” The panelists in this discussion emphasized on the need to be more proactive than reactive in managing the HR. They also stressed on the importance of intrinsic motivation and retention of employees.
 
Prof Bharati Kumar proposed the vote of thanks. All faculty members and students of CMRD attended the programme.
