The National Conference on Marketing to the Bottom of the Pyramid was conducted successfully on 29th January 2007. There were 46 participants in total including 11 outside participants, 9 CMRD faculty members and 26 students. The programme started at 10.15 a.m. The student coordinators welcomed all the participants. Chief guest Mr. M. S. Ranade, MD Archer Management Services Pvt. Ltd, judges for the day Dr. Manohar Ingale and Dr. Shailesh Kasande and Director CMRD Dr. J.K. Sirur were present on the dais. In his keynote address Mr. M. S. Ranade briefly touched upon important aspects of 'Bottom of the Pyramid'. In his address Dr. J. K. Sirur stressed on ostentatious expenditures on brands and the need for all-inclusive efforts on the part of organisations to eradicate poverty of the people at the Bottom of the Pyramid.

The first presenters for the day were Prof. Milind Marathe and Prof. Amit Chaudhari followed by 5 speakers from various Institutes across the country. After the presentations were over, Dr. Manohar Ingale spoke on some of the radical concepts on Marketing to the Bottom of the Pyramid and critically evaluated the concept with reference to scholarly articles published in the media. There were 3 prizes to be announced. Prof. Poonam Chauhan of Guru Nanak Institute of Management, Mumbai won the first price of presentation (Gift Vouchers worth Rs. 1500/-). Prof. Rita Kumari of ICFAI Business School won the second prize (Gift Vouchers worth Rs.1000/-). Prof. R. M. Indi of Siddhant Institute of Business Management won the 3rd prize (Gift Vouchers worth Rs.500/-). All the participants were given the certificates. The conference concluded 4.25 p.m. in the evening.

Prof. Archana Deodhar and Prof. Abhay Inamdar coordinated the event along with all the other faculty members.
