The Idea of observing road safety week was conceived by Prof Monica Gajare, she firmly believes that the Mangers of Tomorrow should understand the corporate social responsibilities.

The plan to observe the National Road safety Week laid down well in advance. Creating awareness of the importance of road safety among the school children was the central idea. This concept was then presented to RTO Pune. RTO extended their help by providing the required display material. Dr Amod Markale trained the students of CMRD on the aspects of road safety, and the presentations to be made to the school children.

On the 1st day of the road safety week Students of CMRD received the display material at the hands of S P Pune District Mr. Vishwas Nangare Patil and DCP Pune (Traffic control Branch) Mr. Mahesh Huraye control branch at the inaugural function held at RTO Pune.

The students of CMRD conducted the programes at 15 different schools, which included Pune Municipality Schools also. A series of street play were devised by group of students to drive the message of road safety. These street plays were performed at different schools including Vikhe Patil Foundation's Vikhe Patil Memorial School.

The week concluded with oath taking ceremony. Mr. S R Shelke Dy RTO Pimpri Chinchwad administered the oath of road safety to the students. Students of CMRD pledged themselves to observe, preserve the traffic rules, and perform their duty as a safe/ defensive driver with the utmost integrity. The oath ceremony was followed by a 3.8 km rally. The students marched on the busy residential roads shouting the road safety slogans.

Mr Sanjay Sasane Dy RTO Mumbai (Central) and Transport Commissioner's Bandra Mumbai made a presentations on ' Road safety and the role of NGO's.
